musical info...

musical education:My mom put me through piano lessons as a kid. I'm very appreciative of that. HATED to practice... it was my biggest downfall but it all starts with piano. Post piano I played the violin like all 4th graders but once the band came along... I moved onto Clarinet. Starting my career in 5th grade... I made it to the 1st chair of the R.J. Fisher Middle School's concert & marching band as a wee 7th grader. Ryo Kamatazuki challenged me constantly for the position. He practiced all the time, I was natural talent. SUCKER! No one can beat me when it comes to Robin Hood Prince of Thieves - Everything I DO I Do it For You - Bryan Adams!

Then I started up on the Tenor Sax in the Jazz Band. I realized Jazz Band was where it was at! Super fun. Dino from Dredg was our bassist. Totally our Jazz Band's claim to fame these days. Being in the concert band, I got to go to Disneyland yearly. YES! Disneyland. Can you believe it? Such a big moment. My mom always chaperoned. Soooo embarrassing. Ugh. I was sooo cool. hahah... this is fun. ok.... moving on.

Ryo finally beat me for 1st chair when I started to lose interest in clarinet and was putting more focus on sports. I was still Band VP though. Totally coolest kid on the block. Once I moved to high school my best friend Lara and I decided to try and keep up the whole band thing and see where it would take us. We tried switching it up to Oboe. Lara wasn't very good and our instructor's brother was the cutest boy in school. We couldn't focus.

Between that, hating marching, hating playing @ football games, not getting along with the other band members and getting chastised by seniors while walking down the street with our clarinet cases.... our careers were over. Really, it's a shame. I loved the jazz band and concert band. Also, I was pretty damn good. Miss Bingman just wouldn't allow it without putting on a monkey suit and marching to Tiger Rag. Hence, the day I quit band and just became a music fan. I also took up guitar around Junior year of High School and kinda stuck with that through College.

I was big into radio in college. Had my own morning punk and ska show called Crank and Skank at KSJS in San Jose. After that... it was all music, promoting, marketing... whatever I could get my hands on... all the time.
